The importance of a comprehensive plan that goes beyond doc visits was never mentioned…no matter how healthy or young you are …consider the medical and financial ramifications of a communicable disease, accident or the carelessness of another – the guy must be feeling very lucky? Hey Julie–

Traveling in the U.S scares the hell out of me now because I don’t have insurance. I got pneumonia in China and was in the hospital for a week in Macau–it cost me $1,000 U.S. In the U.S it would’ve cost ten times that, or more. The thought sends chills down my spine.

Here’s to hoping the U.S cleans up its act on this front in the next four (or eight!) years.

Funny you should mention Frontline… we were watching it, too. In fact, I wrote this WHILE we were watching Frontline, which was terribly scary!

Thanks for this piece! Very timely and especially after I’d watched last night’s Frontline episode on health care…which was, pretty scary.
