Border Town: Tijuana/San Diego

Yesterday, we stood on the Mexican side of the Mexico-US border and watched as families connected across the wall.
Of the nearly 2,000 miles of wall dividing the US and Mexico, it’s only the patch you see here–probably about 20 feet in length–where people from each side are allowed by the US Customs and Border Patrol agents to talk with one another across the fence.
Clearly, we’ve got our own feelings and political opinions about the wall, but sometimes pictures, as the old saying goes, are worth 1,000 words.
Or more.

The pictures do speak a lot. Maybe some day the world would be without borders

Powerful photos!. Quite the outdoor prison.
The wall jaunting into the sea got me thinking – how far out does it go? Can someone swim around it at a certain point?

Lola- You could swim around it. In fact, you can actually cross to the other side through the wall. But the US Customs and Border Patrol agents are sitting right on top of the hill–just outside the frame of the photo–watching to make sure people don’t.

I had no idea…this makes me sad.

Sarah-
What’s even sadder is the fact that the US allegedly has plans to put up another wall and control the visits, as if the family members were in a prison.

This just makes me sad. Why do we do stupid things like this?
