I was an eager, talented, intelligent employee who got promoted--and who was just terrible as a manager. The reason I got into the field--to work with people--just wasn&#039;t the interest of management at all. I totally agree with you: the great smart people who get promoted into management almost never do well there. They&#039;re miserable. And their bosses usually know it. And are gleeful about it, too. ;)</description>

		<description>That&#039;s great advice, and I think it&#039;s true.  Up to a certain point, you get rewarded for being like that at work!  Then they make you a manager and suddenly your YES means work for other people not just yourself.  It&#039;s a great way to get a staff mutiny on your hands!</description>
