Cuba’s Chinatown

Posted by on June 4, 2008

I recently wrote a blog about my experience interviewing Jorge Chao, the secretary of Chung Wah, Cuba’s oldest social club for Chinese Cubans.

Since then, I’ve transformed that narrative into an audio slideshow, which you can view by clicking on the screen. Stay tuned for more pieces that will be published soon about the history of the Chinese in Cuba.

I’m normally a big “printed word” purist and reluctant to adopt new media, but the audio and video added so much to this piece, and I was already a fan! Not just the photos, but hearing the languages, too, the Spanish and the Mandarin. Great stuff, Julie!

Thanks, Eva. I’ve been pretty slow to adopt new media myself, but my initial forays have me hooked.

I’m all for new media….jazz it up…..maybe even salsa it up too…

Very very cool!. I liked the original blog. Adding the pictures completes it and instantly transports me there.
